However, if you are an affiliate marketer who focuses on the long term relationship with your audience or subscribers, you should think beyond making money in all of your activities. Choosing the right affiliate product is no different.

It’s easy to pick only the highest paying product, but you must remember that your reputation is at stake if you make a bad recommendation. Well, your audience may be forgiving, but you can’t exploit the relationship either.

Here are 3 tips to find affiliate products that bring in more than just revenue. Best of all, you want to further and better the relationship with the prospects or customers.

1. Good product.
I know, it is relative. But for a product to fit in your criteria, it should be good enough. It doesn’t have to be the best in the market but buyers should not be disappointed with the quality either. It should serve its purpose very well.

People are looking for someone they could rely on for product recommendation. If they put that responsiblity on you, make sure you deliver. That’s how you keep the relationship for the long haul.

To find a good product, you need to know the market. What do they want most? What problem are they trying to solve? Which specific criteria do they look for? How they want it solved?

2. Solve a problem.
Quality is one thing, the effectiveness of the product or service is another. Before I promote any product, I make sure that the product actually solves a problem my readers have. If possible, gain experience about the product before you endorse it. That will give you advantage over marketers who don’t have any hands-on experience.

It should keep its promise. Here’s another to look at it. Does it help your audience make a progress toward what they want? Does it offer any unique benefit over other solutions?

3. Benefit you in one way or another.
This comes last, believe it or not. I sometimes make a product recommendation without making a penny, just because at the core of my intention is to help people get what they want. The fact that I make money because of it is a bonus.

Sincerity is rare nowadays. Just by positioning yourself as someone who actually cares often give you a leg over your competitions. But think long term, your courtesy is going to build trust and your followers are going to stick with you for a long time.
